iBase IB200: Single-board computer with an AMD APU

Single-board computers come in various forms, with boards based on the ARM architecture being particularly popular. The most popular representative of this category is undoubtedly the Raspberry Pi, which is currently in its fifth iteration. Some alternatives also make use of conventional Intel processors.

The IB200 is a new single-board computer based on an AMD APU. Specifically, the AMD Ryzen R2312 is installed, which is said to have a clock frequency of between 2.7 and 3.5 GHz and is a processor with four cores and the ability to process eight threads.

Up to 8 GB of RAM is supported, but there is no internal storage in the form of eMMC memory. The installation of an SSD in M.2 2280 format is possible, and there is also a slot for M.2 2230 cards, which is usually used for a wireless card that provides WiFi and Bluetooth. Unlike the Raspberry Pi, the IB200 does not come with wireless connectivity as standard.

In principle, the device also be used as a desktop system, as it has two HDMI 2.0b ports and an LVDS port. There are two USB 3.0 ports in type A, while the two Ethernet ports support a data transfer rate of 2.5 GBit/s and are therefore significantly faster than the widely used Gigabit standard. The 100 x 72 millimeter single-board computer is supplied with electricity via a round plug.

Other connections can be tapped, including USB 2.0. The RS-232, -422 and -485 standards are supported. Such connections are particularly relevant for communication with devices in industrial plants, for example. Sensors and actuators cannot be connected via GPIO to the extent known from other single-board computers.

Information on price or availability is not yet available.
