Some NUC devices that were originally launched by Team Blue (now part of the Asus portfolio) are still available at select retailers with hefty discounts. Newegg, for instance, still sells the Intel NUC X15 gaming laptops with i7-12700H CPU and Arc A550M dGPU at under $600, making for an enticing budget solution. Depending on the state tax, the price can be as low as ~$500 when choosing the ZIP payment option and using the “ZIPMYPC12” at checkout.
While the i7-12700H may be a few years old, it still performs similarly to the new Meteor Lake Core Ultra 7 155H as far as single core and multi-core workloads are concerned. The iGPU performance is nowhere near though, thus the laptop comes with the Arc A550M dGPU to compensate. This graphics solution is almost on par with an RTX 3050 mobile GPU and has 2 GB more VRAM (8 GB total). Complementing the CPU are also 16 GB of DDR5-4800 RAM and a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD (plus an additional M.2 expansion slot).
On the display side, Intel is offering a decent 15.6-inch IPS panel with 1080p @144 Hz resolution, 350 nit brightness and 100% sRGB color gamut. Port selection includes a Thunderbolt 4 connector, which is very rare at this price point. Additionally, there are 3x USB-A 3.2 ports, as well as an HDMI video out and audio plus GbE jacks. Wireless connectivity is capped to Wi-Fi 6 + BT 5.2, and, with the 62.3 Wh battery, this laptop weighs 4.85 lbs.
