With the Skyline, HMD Global is set to unveil a mid-range smartphone in the style of the Nokia Lumia 920 on July 10. According to the latest information from the leaker @smashx_60, the Lumia design will soon also be used for a tablet, which will be called the HMD Slate Tab 5G. The device will feature a colorful back and a flat frame.
The 8-megapixel selfie camera sits in an evenly thin frame around the 10.6-inch IPS panel, with a resolution of 2,000 x 1,200 pixels and a frame rate of 90 Hz. Gorilla Glass 3 protects the screen from scratches. There is a 13-megapixel f/1.8 main camera on the back, which is supported by an LED flash. The tablet has stereo speakers, an NFC chip, three microphones, and four metal pins on the back, which can be used to connect a keyboard cover. The device can be operated with a stylus.
A highlight of the equipment is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, a 4 nm ARM chip from the previous year, which has four ARM Cortex-A78 performance cores with clock frequencies of up to 2.4 GHz and four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores at 1.95 GHz. It also has 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory, which can be expanded using a microSD card. The battery has a capacity of 9,250 mAh and can be charged via USB-C with up to 30 watts. A 3.5 mm headphone jack, Bluetooth 5.2, and an integrated 5G modem round off the features. No details on the price or launch date of the HMD Slate Tab 5G are yet known. HMD Global is to offer two cheaper sister models to the device, the HMD Tab and the HMD Tab Lite.
