Launch pricing and software support coverage leak for new Nokia Lumia 920 lookalike

Leaker @smashx_60 has shared another round of details about HMD Skyline, a smartphone that is believed to be HMD Global's first crack at bringing back classic Nokia Lumia styling. Previously, the X account focused on revealing hardware specifications, including but not limited to a Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 chipset, a 120 Hz OLED display and a Samsung ISOCELL HM2 as its primary camera sensor. Additionally, the leaker has published several render images, a few of which we have embedded throughout this article.

Now,@smashx_60has expanded upon HMD Global's intended launch pricing while also outlining the company's promised support period. Allegedly, the HMD Skyline will receive three years of Android updates, a far cry from Google's and Samsung's seven-year commitments. Moreover,@smashx_60claims that HMD Global will only deliver security patches during the same period, with no additional year of security coverage as many Android OEMs offer. Conversely, the HMD Skyline Business Edition (BE) is said to be in line for five years of security patch support, albeit at raised launch pricing.

Ultimately, all HMD Skyline variants will likely finish up on Android 17, given the high probability on past performance that HMD Global will release the device running Android 14. Reportedly, HMD Global will sell the HMD Skyline BE in a sole black variant for €520 with 8 GB of RAM and 256 of storage. By contrast, consumer versions are said to be available in four colour options, each with a choice between 8 GB and 12 GB RAM but just 256 GB of storage. Currently, HMD Global is expected to release the HMD Skyline in mid-July for €459 with 8 GB of RAM and €499 for its optional 12 GB RAM variant.
