According to the latest report from Counterpoint, Indonesian smartphone shipments increased by 4% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2024, and Chinese brands continue to shine.
Counterpoint analysis said that OPPO and Samsung’s market share declined year-on-year due to reduced shipments in the entry-level market (less than US$200). The mid-range segment ($200-$399) grew 37% year-on-year in Q1 2024 to reach a 27% share, with this growth driven by Xiaomi, Samsung, and Vivo.
In addition, Indonesia’s 5G smartphone shipments increased by 77% year-on-year in the quarter, accounting for 29% of total smartphone shipments. This growth was led by vivo and OPPO, with a combined share of 39%. Due to the slow expansion of 5G, manufacturers are still considering launching 4G smartphones in the Indonesian market.
Market share of each brand:
vivo mobile phones accounted for 19.2% of the market share, compared with 17.4% in the same period last year, a year-on-year increase of 16%;
Xiaomi mobile phones accounted for 18.6% of the market share, In the same period last year, it was 12.5%, a year-on-year increase of 55%;
OPPO mobile phones accounted for 17.0% of the market share, compared with 23.0% in the same period last year, a year-on-year decrease of 23%;
Samsung mobile phones accounted for 16.7% of the market share, It was 18.3% in the same period last year, down 5% year-on-year;
realme mobile phones accounted for 9.8% of the market share, compared with 11.9% in the same period last year, down 14% year-on-year;
Other mobile phones accounted for 18.5% of the market share, It was 16.9% in the same period last year, a year-on-year increase of 14%;
