According to news on May 30, exchanging price for volume has become the magic weapon for Apple to seek growth at this stage. Behind this is the helplessness faced by China’s mobile phone industry, which is desperately involving itself.
It is reported that Apple’s iPhone shipments in the Chinese market increased by 52% year-on-year in April. In the first two months of this year, iPhone shipments in the Chinese market declined, but Growth was already achieved in March.
In fact, Apple and its Chinese distributors have been lowering prices since 2024, reaching the peak of the 618 discount. Among them, the iPhone 15 Pro 1TB version has the largest discount, which has been directly reduced from the original price of 12,999 yuan to 10,699 yuan, with a price difference of 2,300 yuan.
After the price reduction, the iPhone 15 series has arrived in the price hinterland of domestic flagship mobile phones, facing direct competition with Huawei Pura 70, Xiaomi 14 Pro and other models.
It is not difficult to guess that iPhone shipments will further increase in May this year.
IDC data shows that in the first quarter of 2024, China’s smartphone market shipped approximately 69.26 million units, a year-on-year increase of 6.5%. Honor Huawei ranks first in the Chinese smartphone market with a 17% share.
In particular, Huawei has recovered rapidly since its return at the end of August last year. In the first quarter of this year, it ranked first in the Chinese market, with a year-on-year growth of more than 100%. The Mate 60 series continues to be in short supply, with the nova 12 series accounting for one-third of Huawei's quarterly shipments.
OPPO continues to rank among the top three in the market with a market share of 15.7%. Apple ranked second with a 15.6% share in the quarter, down 6.6% year-on-year. Vivo ranked fifth with a share of 14.6%.
From the data point of view, the market shares of the top five mobile phone brands are very close. Apple has been attacked from both sides by Huawei Honor OV, which puts great pressure on it.
