7月24日消息，开源数据库产品提供商MySQL有望08年首次公开发行股票。
Index Venture的创始人Neil Rimer，在这个“全世界都想IPO”的时候，MySQL已经开始蠢蠢欲动了。Neil Rimer同时也是MySQL的投资人之一。
MySQL位于美国加州，以提供免费软件为主，靠附带产品以及技术支持赢利。该公司推出的产品深受Web 2.0创业者的厚爱。截至目前，全球社交网站中有十分之七的网站都采用MySQL的数据库，其中包括为人熟知的Digg、Facebook、Feedburner以及YouTube。
Neil Rimer没有透露MySQL上市的具体时间。有可靠消息称，MySQL上市的时间应该在08年。
MySQL创建于2001年7月，创始人包括David Axmark、Allan Larsson和Michael Widenius，他们三人从上世纪80年代就在一起工作。投资MySQL的有Benchmark Capital、Institutional Venture Partners、Index Ventures、Holtron Ventures、Intel Capital、Sumitomo subsidiary Presidio STX、、Red Hat、SAP Ventures以及Scope Capital等著名投资机构。
