在Oracle OpenWorld大会上作主题发言时，甲骨文负责服务器技术的执行副总裁Chuck Rozwat说，β版Oracle Database 11g包含有旨在解决包括从保持更多信息到数据压缩、处理并行更新在内的一系列数据库问题的182个新功能。Rozwat表示，11g包含有许多与伸缩性相关的新功能，这是数据库产业面临的几大挑战之一。
