public-html-ig-zh@w3.org[0] 是 W3C HTML5 中文興趣小組的附屬郵件群，在 W3C 的郵件群中，大部分中文世界來的信（80% 以上？）都在這個郵件群上。至於 W3C HTML5 中文興趣小組的目標，原定計畫請看章程[1]，實質執行成果請看[2]，整理起來大概就是：

Web 技術規範的翻譯進行了不少
間接有一些零零散散對 Web 技術規範的貢獻

以一個抽象層面來看，W3C HTML5 中文興趣小組就是一個社區，反映各個社區成員利益的社區，基本上跟 W3C 的其他工作組沒什麼兩樣。例如說，負責 Web Notifications 的 Web Notification 工作組的郵件群[3]就連續好幾個月沒什麼討論，Web Notifications 規範也沒什麼進展，基本上一般的情形就是這些規範編輯的上級不同意這些人花時間在這種「公眾事務」上。W3C HTML5 中文興趣小組主要的工作 — 規範翻譯 — 在沒什麼人有興趣的幾個月也沒什麼進展。回到標題的子問題：

A：這取決於字體排印要討論的範圍究竟跟 Web 標準有沒有關係。就我所知，字體排印在 CSS3 Fonts、CSS3 Writing Modes、CSS3 Text 都很重要，另外 CSS3 Fonts 也用了很多 OpenType 的東西，public-html-ig-zh 當然很歡迎討論這三份規範的不足，或是 CSS4 的這三個模塊該加什麼功能，甚至是 OpenType。但是很不巧就我的個人利益和知識面來說，我除了 CSS3 Text 以外，另外兩個都不是很清楚，這三份模塊也不在我當前會翻譯的 CSS 模塊的列表中（目前 CSS 規範基本都是我翻的）。歡迎加進來翻譯這三份模塊，或是用 wiki 放置 OpenType 規範的相關翻譯。

A：歡迎。先決條件是，任何討論應該有一個目標（目標是一點規範的更動或是送往這些專門討論特定規範的郵件群（www-font@w3.org , opentype-list@indx.co.uk）的一封信）。基本上愛好某個技術到會去看規範的人都是令人敬佩的，W3C HTML5 中文興趣小組裡實質上工作與這些規範有直接相關的人並不多。
