nginx - php-cgi自动重启

我在Linode的VPS上装了php5.4.10 + Nginx，然后用 php-cgi
但是我发现php-cgi的进程经常莫名挂掉，在Log里也看不出所以然，我只能写了一个shell脚本没10mins用ps auxww检查一次，挂了就重启
请问有没有什么办法排查这个问题？
还有，有没有办法可以让cgi无缝重启？

用 cgi 模式的话为什么不用 php-fpm 来管理 php-cgi 呢，php-cgi 挂掉是很正常的
